Not So Thankful For That GI Upset...

November 21, 2017

It’s that time of year again, the holidays are upon us, which means lots of food and good company. But what you may not know is that, the holidays also bring plenty of potential hazards for your furry family members.

Thanksgiving may be filled with delicious foods for you and I, but for to your pets they can be very toxic. Be sure to keep the table scraps away from fido and toss them straight into the trash because those savory treats can cause horrible pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is the medical term for sudden and painful inflammation of the pancreas causing vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain.

Here is a list of food and drink pets’ must not have this holiday season…

  • Grapes and raisins

  • Xylitol (found in sugar free foods)

  • Fatty foods

  • Bones

  • Onions, leeks, chives, and garlic

  • Unbaked yeast bread dough

  • Alcohol

If your dog or cat absolutely cannot miss out on the holiday fun, here are a few links to some pet friendly holiday treat recipes.
