Dr. Bender grew up in central Illinois, where he realized his passion for working with animals while volunteering at his local zoo. He earned a degree in Animal Ecology from Iowa State University in 2022, and then graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2026. He joined the University Veterinary Care Center team shortly thereafter. In his spare time, Dr. Bender enjoys reading, hiking, birdwatching and watching college sports.
Dr. Amanda Utt, an Oklahoma State University graduate, is the newest addition to the University Veterinary Care Center family.
Dr. Amy Guernsey-Youngblood started at University Veterinary Care Center as an associate veterinarian in 2013 and just three years later she became a co-owner with Dr. Gratton.
Dr. Gratton attended Kansas State University and since 1994, he has practiced veterinary medicine in Topeka, Kansas at University Veterinary Care Center.
